7th to 12th June 2017
Registration for this year's BarnCamp has now closed. If you need to get in touch, please email barncamp2017 [at] hacktionlab [dot] org
BarnCamp is a low-cost rural DIY skill-sharing event started by UK tech collective Hacktionlab. It is open to everyone: activists, campaigners, people involved in social and community groups, and anybody else with an interest in technology and how to subvert it and put it to good use. All skill levels are invited and we promise that workshops are not too geeky due to our infamous nerd gag.
Set on a hill above the beautiful Wye Valley with views across to Wales and Monmouthshire, BarnCamp has a packed programme: from foraging for food in the woods to learning about privacy and security whilst using the net; from starting your own blog or online community to learning about alternative technology.
Everything takes place on site. Some of the highlights include:
- Meals from breakfast on Thursday 9th to lunch on Sunday 17th
- Camping in your own tent, or staying in a camper van or live-in vehicle
- Film night on Friday night
- Live music and battle decks on Saturday night
- Sitting around a good old fire and meeting new people
Children are welcome and can camp for free, but we do ask for a donation towards food. As BarnCamp takes place on a working farm, animals are sadly not allowed.
Lots more information about the event can be found on the BarnCamp page at HacktionLab.
